/ A F F I N E Q&A
What is Affine and how is it different?
Affine is a an intimate workshop for stationers that provides teaching and observation as well as hands-on experience to help artists elevate and refine their brand and their process in order to attract and book the higher budget clients that they want to be working with.
It is different because there is not currently any other in-person workshop series that is tailored exclusively to stationers. Also, Affine is specifically geared towards stationers who are looking for both a workshop and for mentorship. In fact, this workshop will begin and end with a mentoring call, to make sure that you receive the maximum benefit from the workshop as well as equipping you with an action plan to follow afterwards.
What is your teaching style?
I am a more quiet person and I tend to approach things a little differently than some other educators. I love small groups and getting to share my experience and the lessons that I have learned with others in order to help them grow.
I intend to create a welcoming environment where attendees will feel comfortable asking questions relevant to their individual businesses. I also am including mentorship as part of the workshop, both with the before and after workshop sessions as well as continued availability afterwards.
Will you be teaching stationery design?
Affine is intended for artists who already have at least a working knowledge of stationery design. We will not be teaching technical skills such as digitizing or how to use computer design programs. If you are unsure of whether this workshop would be a good fit, please e-mail me and I would be happy to advise.
How far along in my career should I be in order to attend?
Affine is tailored to stationers who have been in business for at least 1-2 years or for those who may have been in business longer but who feel stuck in their current market and want to elevate their brand and work with higher paying clientele.
I am a calligrapher who wants to transition into stationery, would Affine be a good fit for me?
It could be! The answer will very much depend on your personal situation. If you are a calligrapher who is interested and wondering if Affine is right for you, please email me and I would be happy to talk to you to discover if it would be a good fit.
Will I receive portfolio images?
Yes! There will be multiple sessions in which you will be styling your work to be photographed. Each attendee will bring their own stationery suites that they will then get to style using our curated selection of backgrounds and styling props.
Professional photographers will be on site throughout the entire workshop in order to capture not only the polished portfolio images, but also you interacting with your work which adds a personal element to your brand. Headshots will also be taken
Will I be able to share images from the workshop?
Absolutely! We want you to share your experience while at Affine and after. Any images that you take are, of course, yours. Each attendee will also be given access to the workshop images taken by our team photographers that you can then use We do insist that the Affine team be credited on all social media posts for these images and will provide a full vendor list. More details will be provided as we approach the workshop dates.
